    Are They Joking?

I’m having a hard time believing it isn’t some kind of late April Fool’s joke.

I just read an article in The Journal of Family Practice, a conventional doctor magazine.

The author seems amazed, telling readers that, hey, we’ve got something very unusual here. There’s a guy who came in who had numbness and pain, and we didn’t know why. He didn’t have diabetes or any other condition known to cause it. It took 13 years to figure it out and it turned out to be this rare side effect of – can you believe it – a statin drug!

    Are they kidding?

    Gesundheit!

Do you know how hay fever got its name? In England, they harvest alfalfa and other grasses to make hay for winter animal feed. It’s the “dust” from these grasses that are the original cause of hay fever.

A British doctor named John Bostock originally described the symptoms way back in 1819. He called it “a periodical infection of the eyes and chest.”1

Today, we know that what happens is an overreaction of your immune system to particles in the air, like pollen and ragweed. They are produced by trees in the spring, and grasses in the early summer.

How I Keep the Critters Out

When you think “organic,” you probably have a picture in your head of produce – organically grown fruits and vegetables.

But I want you to know about organic pesticides because of the growing evidence that chemical pesticides are linked to Parkinson’s disease.

In a study published by the journal Archives of Neurology, researchers were looking at people’s occupations, and how likely they were to get Parkinson’s disease.

    What they found shocked them.

    My Accidental Discovery…

On a trip to the Peruvian Amazon, I “accidentally” discovered a natural skin beautifier that’s unknown to the outside world.

You won’t find it in any department store or hear about it on any daytime talk show.

The story of how I found it would make a good adventure novel… but the results I’ve seen with my patients are remarkable.

I have good reason to believe this could be the best skin beautifier and anti-aging tonic in the world.

    Jolt of Strength From Jamaica

I just got back from spending more time with my good friend and colleague, Ivey Harris, at her home in Cornwall Barracks, high up in the John Crow Mountains of Jamaica. I’ve written about Ivey before… she’s the last of the traditional herbal healers in Jamaica’s Maroon culture.

Dr. Sears and Ivey Harris in Jamaica

In fact, Ivey is the seventh generation of her family to practice this nearly lost art. She’s a direct descendant of Princess Nanny, the first leader of the Windward Maroons. Princess Nanny was a renowned herbal healer, and is Jamaica’s only national heroine.

At just five feet tall, Ivey’s a tiny bundle of pure energy. She’s vivacious but has this calm way about her. And she always welcomes me with open arms every time I make the trek up the treacherous mountain roads leading to her remote home.

    Japan vs. Three Mile Island

Does it occur to you that they’re doing the same thing in Tokyo that they did in Three Mile aIsland?

Back in 1979 – exactly 32 years ago yesterday – they were telling everybody for the first couple of weeks not to worry. Then they told everyone to stay inside. Then they evacuated. And then they finally told everyone the truth – that it was a dangerous radiation leak.

And radiation is the biggest fear people in America have from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant was damaged, and the situation keeps getting worse.

They’ve told the people around the plant to stay indoors or leave, but I don’t know how those poor people could leave. It seems like the roads are all blocked or damaged. Most of them are stuck there, being exposed to radiation day after day.

Secret Power Source of the Ancient Incas

The oil I discovered in the dense jungles of the Amazon has reached American shores. And it boasts one of the highest concentrations of heart-healthy omega-3s in the world…

For centuries, it nourished the ancient Incas of Peru – turning them into one of the most powerful civilizations on earth. Packing more than 84 percent essential fatty acids (the “good” fats) – its unique proteins, amino acids and nutrients powered up their legendary warriors, keeping their minds sharp and bodies healthy.*

Now, you have exclusive access to the oil that fueled an empire.

They Ate Up All My Blueberries!

Blueberries have lots of fiber which helps prevent heart disease, and they’re low on the glycemic index (40), so they don’t spike your blood sugar. And eating them can help your memory and other mental abilities.

But the newest research on blueberries has found two exciting things. They can help fight hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) and protect your liver.

In one study, researchers from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture looked at animals with atherosclerosis. They gave a formula with only 1 percent freeze-dried whole blueberries to one of two groups. The other group’s formula did not contain the berry powder. After 20 weeks, the blueberry formula group had as much as 58 percent less artery hardening than the non-blueberry group

    The Sun IS Your Sunscreen

Corporations would have you believe the sun is a cancer-causing ball of radiation threatening our planet.

But the fact is, the sun protects you from cancer. It enhances your health and is vital to your well-being.

One of the most important ways the sun protects you is through your skin, which makes vitamin D from its ultraviolet type B rays. And it’s vitamin D that keeps you from getting not just skin cancer, but more than a dozen others.

Here’s the proof in black and white:

    How Do You Spell Relief?

Many of my patients are surprised when I tell them there’s an easy way to stay “regular.” In fact, keeping your digestive system clear and relaxed is one of the best ways to feel vital and energized.

I’ve spent a lot of time researching the problem and I’ve come up with my own special formula that will help you stay regular naturally. You’ll quickly feel relief when it starts to:

    • Soothe and support intestinal health
    • Help eliminate waste safely and naturally
    • Promote regularity
    • Help you feel clean and fresh on the inside

    Safeguard From The Modern World

Your body was designed to take care of itself.

Take your skin, for example. It needs water to stay firm and healthy

And you make water for your skin by simply breathing air.

But in doing this, your skin makes a small leftover… a molecule that attacks healthy cells called ROS (short for reactive oxygen species).

Normally, your body would handle ROS just fine, with a protector called SOD (short for superoxide dismutase).

But there’s a problem: In the modern world, hydrating your skin isn’t the only thing that produces ROS. Cigarette smoke, ultraviolet light, and environmental pollution produce ROS too, which can affect the appearance of your skin.

On top of that, the modern diet is not giving you enough nutrients to produce even the normal amount of SOD you need to do this important job.

    These Drugs Poison Your Bones

Would you use a drug that gives you the problem it’s supposed to prevent?

Well, that’s exactly what’s going on with the new osteoporosis drugs.

Fosomax, Boniva, Reclast, Actonel … these medications are supposed to help stop you from getting bone fractures as you get older. But we now have evidence that they cause bone breaks.

Researchers studied women taking these medications – called bisphosphonates – who experienced some sort of fracture. Over 65 percent had the same rare fracture in the same area of their thigh bones. And these were the women who had been on the drugs for the longest periods.1

    Piercing a 500-Year Veil

I steered my little Nissan rental car higher… deeper into Jamaica’s John Crow Mountains. S-curves and switchbacks emerged suddenly out of the sheets of blinding rain.

As the storm finally began to clear, I spotted a cluster of tin-roofed houses and tiny shops. I had reached my destination: the home of Jamaica’s last living Maroon healer, Ivelyn Harris.

For centuries, the Maroons have been among the world’s most skilled herbalists. With just the plants growing in their mountain home, their healers may have already conquered problems that still challenge modern medicine. For example, I’d heard stories that…

Six Steps to a Pure and Clean Body

We’ve had millions of years of pure, clean food and water. Changes were made in the last 100 years that are threatening to take that from us. We don’t evolve fast enough for how much our environment is changing. We weren’t designed to live in our current world of man-made chemicals, toxins and pollutants.

For instance, there was a study done that looked at the blood of babies born in American hospitals. They looked for 415 chemicals and found traces of 287 of them in the babies’ blood.1

Rare Super Food of the Ancient Incas

Working my way through the thick jungle, I trekked through the highlands of Peru down into the heart of the Amazon. Along the way, I stopped to celebrate ancient rituals with local Indians. And dodged some mean, golf-ball-sized mosquitoes.

Suddenly my companion, Dr. Octavio Zolezzi from Lima University, shouted, “Here it is.”

Do You Know What Doctors Are Reading?

I like to keep up on the latest news in my field.

The other day, I picked up my copy of Family Practice News, and I couldn’t believe what I saw: three articles side by side on the front page – all addressing the same thing: three different drugs … and three different deadly side effects not reported at the time that the FDA approved these drugs. And all three are still on the market.

The first story that caught my eye was about the diabetes drug Avandia. This drug is still on the market, even though it’s been proven to have caused over 83,000 heart attacks and 304 deaths.1,2
