Terri Brightens Up The Whole Office

My patient Terri L. is bubbling with energy.

When she comes into the office now she has a big smile on her face, she greets my whole staff and has so much to say. She’s shed 80 pounds so far, and she was in the office just yesterday telling my staff happily, “… and everything that’s left is all muscle!”

Terri seems completely unrelated to the person I met when she first came to me as a patient. She was lethargic, walked slow and talked slow. She had her head down all the time, spoke in a monotone and had hardly any animation.

Now she’s very energetic, and everyone notices the difference.

    Why?

    The Calorie Burn Myth

One of the worst myths I hear is that if you want to drop weight, you have to first cut calories. If the first thing you do is restrict calories, your body will fight you every step of the way, and you’ll never see results.

Your body is an intelligent system. I think of changing my body as a coaching job. I don’t try to force it. I try to get it to cooperate.

This means that instead of depriving yourself, the first thing is your body needs to be in a safe and plentiful environment. Then, the natural metabolism we evolved with for thousands of years will begin rebuilding the naturally lean body you were designed to enjoy.

I’ve spent over 25 years researching this topic, studying the science and history behind metabolism and weight gain. I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned at my clinic on both myself and thousands of my patients.

I feel fortunate that my books and videos have helped thousands of people in the real world. Yet I’ve been able to have a kind of success working individually with clients that I haven’t always been able to get through books and DVDs.

    Legs That Go Forever

I’ve written to you many times about how endurance running is bad for your heart and lungs.

Today I want to tell you about how it affects your muscles.

Skeletal muscles are the ones you can see, and the ones you exercise when you move. They attach to your bones via tendons and power up your whole body.

Strong skeletal muscles fill you with strength and potential. They give you the feeling of confidence and they ensure you stay mobile and independent.

And the strength of your leg muscles plays a lead role in how long you’ll live.

A study from the University of Pittsburgh followed nearly 2,300 people for five years. It found that low muscle strength in your quadriceps made you 51 percent more likely to die.1

    The Cure for Cardio Hell

Have you seen the late-night commercials for those 90-minute “extreme” fitness programs? You may have felt a rush of excitement as you watched super-fit and attractive models jump around with their six-pack abs and bulging muscles.

Let me tell you about everyone I know who bought one of those DVDs and watched them at home… They came to a very disappointing conclusion:

    They couldn’t do it!

    They’re Just Not Getting It…

lot of people are coming around to the idea that not only does long-duration cardio training not work, it’s dangerous. But while I give them credit for catching on, they’re not getting it quite right.

In fact, one of the most popular doctors on the Internet is also not recommending long-duration cardio any more like he used to. He’s come up with his own exercise regimen. I admire him for trying, but there are serious problems with his new program, and there are a few things I do differently.

    76 Pounds and Counting…

    76 Pounds and Counting…

When Terri comes into my office, she lights up the room.

It’s hard to miss. Her smile radiates hope, victory, and real happiness.

If you’re not familiar with her story, Terri started PACE last year and lost 45 pounds in just four months. And it all started from walking for 45 seconds, then resting. At the time, that’s all she could do.

By December, she had dropped a total of 66 pounds…

    I Have Some Exciting News…

    I Have Some Exciting News…

In November I’ll be lecturing at a conference given by the leading association for alternative and integrative medicine.

The American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) has invited me to present PACE.

This is a big honor. And I’m excited about this opportunity to get the word out to thousands of doctors from over 30 countries who will be there…

    Happy-Go-Lucky…

    Happy-Go-Lucky…

    I just saw Terri Lyttle…

She came into my office first thing this morning. She had a big smile and went around saying hello to everyone. I’ve never seen her happier.

Terri’s my patient who lost 45 pounds by walking for 45 seconds. If you knew Terri a few months ago, you’d understand. She wasn’t always so happy-go-lucky. When she first came to see me, she was tired, frustrated, and very overweight.

Today her feet barely touch the ground.

In case you missed it, I included Terri’s story below…

    Heart Breaking News About Athletes

    Heart Breaking News About Athletes

Here’s the most important thing about exercise for your heart…

Endurance training, like cardiovascular endurance (“cardio” for short), is not the only thing your heart and lungs need. It won’t keep your heart and lungs from shrinking with age. And it won’t make your heart less prone to disease.

    Here’s proof…

Terri isn’t used to all this attention…

Since I first told you about Terri’s remarkable PACE transformation, my office has received hundreds of calls, emails, and letters from people around the country.

They all want to know one thing:

How did Terri drop 68 pounds (and counting!) just from walking for 45 seconds, then resting?

It flies in the face of everything you’ve been told about exercise and weight reduction. What about doing hours of cardio? What about jumping around in aerobics class and sweatin’ to the oldies?

Terri is proof that you don’t need aerobics and cardio. You never did…

    Exercising But Not Losing Weight?

    Exercising But Not Losing Weight?

A cover story in TIME magazine tells you exercise won’t help you lose weight.

In the article, a professor from Louisiana State University says, “… for weight loss, exercise is pretty useless.”1

If you’re a regular reader you may already recognize the ignorance of this professor’s statement.

    What is he missing?

    PACE

You are in the middle of the biggest epidemic the world has ever known. Two out of three Americans are now overweight. Diabetes is 9 times more likely than it was just 30 years ago. Heart disease kills over 1,000,000 each year in the US alone and the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently announced that for the first time in history, these “chronic diseases” surpassed all other causes of death worldwide.
