“Want a bite?” The beautiful young girl smiles at her boyfriend as she pulls a frozen pop out of the picnic basket.

“I thought you loved me.”

“I do. So take two bites.”

“It’s got high fructose corn syrup in it.”

“So what?”

“You know what they say... that... it’s... it... uhhhhh...” He goes silent.

“What? That it’s made from corn? That it has the same number of calories as sugar? Honey... it’s fine in moderation.”

The boyfriend smiles with relief and takes the popsicle. “You only brought one?”

Cue the happy music and the choir singing in the background.

The people who make high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) haven’t let up in their TV advertising. They’re still out there claiming their chemically produced concoction is the same as natural sugar.

In the old days, your “appetite control system” was in better shape.

Today we have all sorts of additives and genetically modified “anti-nutrients” that interfere with our body’s hunger signals.

By your “appetite control system,” I mean a complex set of chemical interactions between your brain, nervous system, metabolic hormones, special cells and your immune system. These days, too many additives in your food get in the way of these delicate signals.

Dear Reader, They’re at it again… attacking your health. But they are very clever at it. The story starts with two mothers at a backyard picnic… The first mom pours an artificial drink into plastic cups for their kids playing outside. The second mom expresses concern about giving their children anything sweetened with high fructose [...]

The problem with drinking flavored water to stay hydrated is that it contains about as much sugar as one can of soda. Drinking just one bottle can significantly [...]

But, my research shows that many here are indeed overfed yet under-nourished. How can that happen in the land of plenty? For one thing, we are eating too many of what [...]
